“Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire” (2024) Review

Written by Kaylee Zukowski

Upon watching the trailer for this new “Ghostbusters” movie, I was so excited to see this film because it had been a while (2021) since anyone did a remake of this series. While I did not watch “Ghostbusters: Afterlife”, I recognized that there were many of the same characters in this current movie. Regarding the characters, I enjoyed that there wasn’t really any confusion of character arcs or any plot points that didn’t make sense. Something that I didn’t enjoy was Finn Wolfhard’s role, as it felt as though his part really didn’t matter in the movie because he didn’t have too much input besides small little moments like joking around or making silly comments.

Overall, this movie provides plenty of comedy, action, and slight bits of thrill and horror due to there being small jump scares during the movie; though nothing that would make you jump out of your seat. What I really loved was the inclusion of the original Ghostbusters and other characters as well, making the movie much more inclusive to fans of the originals who may have wanted to see another movie. However, they also used modern technology like drones which made me happy because it kept up with the times. I also enjoyed the newest enemy that they had to face and the lore that they gave for the spirit/god, which made the movie all that more interesting. Plus, the film even explained the abilities of what they were up against which is essential when fighting ghosts!

Overall plot: 10/10
CGI: 10/10
Acting: 9/10 (Minus for what I feel about Finn)
Ghost activity: 10/10

Something strange.. in ya neighborhood
