Welcome Back to the News Nest!

Welcome back, Blue Jays! The start of a new semester means a fresh year for the News Nest, and I’m excited to welcome everyone back.

For those who don’t know me, my name is Kira Dunphy, and I’m the new managing editor and president of the News Nest. I’ve been part of the News Nest as a copy editor for the past two years, and I’m excited to step into this new role and help guide the publication into a new semester.

The News Nest has always been a place for students to share their voices and for the USJ community to stay connected with what is happening around campus. This year, I want to build on that. We have a lot of ideas for new stories, reviews, opinions, campus coverage and other content, and I’m looking forward to bringing more of that to the News Nest throughout the semester.

I also want the Nest to be a place where our readers feel heard. Have a campus event coming up that deserves some attention? A book, movie or TV series that everyone should know about? An opinion about something happening at USJ? A story that deserves to be told? We want to hear it. The best parts of any publication come from the people it serves, and the News Nest is no exception.

This semester will also bring some changes as we work to expand the News Nest beyond our regular publications and make our online presence a bigger part of what we do. There will be plenty of new content to look forward to, along with new ways to stay connected with the Nest.

I’m incredibly excited for everything this year has in store, and I hope everyone will follow along, read our stories, share their thoughts and, maybe, find something that makes them want to tell a story of their own.
