“Kung Fu Panda 4” Review: Is it worth watching?
Written by Kaylee Zukowski
I remember watching “Kung Fu Panda” when I was younger, always going to see the newest movie that came out. One of the main reasons for seeing it was the clumsy and goofy demeanor of the main character, Po. As many of you probably know, Po is played by the lovable Jack Black, who stars in many other movies and has been known for his funny movies. He has been seen many times on the internet posing in silly ways and acting as his ridiculous self, a few of the reasons that he is loved as an actor and a person.
Much like the other Kung Fu Panda movies, we see Po facing off another enemy that threatens the world. Each movie shows how resilient and determined he is, despite having the coordination of a child. He always seems to come out on top in each movie. However, this newest nemesis has abilities that he has never seen before. The Chameleon, the one who can shapeshift into any master of Kung Fu she desires. Every one of his other enemies he took down has a unique ability, will he be able to fight them all mixed into one being? Will he be able to take her down alone? Or will we see him use his loved ones again to aid him in his fight? Not only does he have to worry about saving the world from The Chameleon, but he also has to choose his new successor, the next Dragon Warrior to take his place while he goes to the valley of peace. What will become of the dragon warrior’s reputation after he chooses Zhen, a thief who intends to continue stealing?
From stunning plot twists to hilarious comments, this movie has it all. I give this movie a 10/10, the best of the movie franchise, due to the inclusion of all of the enemies he has fought into one character. The movie is also suitable for younger individuals, as there is no vulgar language but there is violence. The one issue I have in the movie is the viewers not seeing his powers as much. He is the Dragon Warrior, after all. I always like to see Po show off his abilities when facing an opponent. However, it was interesting to see him hand off the show to another animal and see them try the abilities he previously used. I wonder what else we will see from the two of them and if we will continue to see Po in future movies.

You’ve convinced me! I wasn’t sure if I wanted to watch this movie because of how people on tiktok have talked about it, but after reading your review I will definitely give it a watch. I think people get disappointed when they watch a late sequel to such a beloved franchise because they are chasing after the feelings and emotions they had towards it when they were younger. I find this to be the case especially when it comes to movies like Toy Story 4, the new Despicable Me/Minions movies, etc. I think that if people accept that they aren’t watching it as a kid anymore and that they are watching it as an adult they wouldn’t be so harsh on their reviews. Anyways, I will definitely give it a watch.
