The Significance of the SGA: A Student’s Testimony

By: Madison Rossetti

The Student Government Association (SGA) represents the undergraduate student body at USJ. The organization listens to students’ concerns and suggestions and works to implement meaningful changes on campus. SGA serves as a bridge between students and faculty, staff, and administration. It is comprised of an executive board and a group of senators who collaborate through various committees including Academic Affairs, Finance, Internal Affairs, Public Affairs, and Student Life.

SGA has sponsored and supported events such as Bingo Nights in McGovern, the Winter Ball, Blue Jay Bash, a pet food drive, a floral boutique event, and Stuff a Plush Party. The organization is especially known for its Bingo Nights, which feature a variety of prizes. Moving forward, SGA plans to host additional social events to strengthen campus connections and build community at USJ.

The goal of SGA is to ensure student voices are heard and to advocate for beneficial changes on campus. The organization is always seeking new members and welcomes student suggestions. Those interested in joining or sharing ideas may contact SGA President Robert Longo at [email protected] or direct message the organization’s Instagram page (@usj_studentgov). SGA meets with President Free, the provost, and other faculty members to discuss student concerns, and members strongly encourage the campus community to share ideas that can improve USJ!
